ARTs-19 (2018/19 Season)
After a 2018 full of ups and downs, an exciting year was ahead of the the team. The season started with the fifth anniversary celebration, where the six cars manufactured so far were exposed, and both members and sponsors could be even more aware of what ARUS is all about and the path walked during those first five years.
As it happened years before, the approach taken for the ART19-C was quite conservative, freezing most of the designs which had been already validated, and focusing on trying to achieve greater reliability. But obviously the situation was way different for the ART-19E after a frustrating first year, and uncountable hours were dedicated towards testing the engine, gathering plenty of data needed to have a better understanding of all systems surrounding it.
For the first time ever, ARUS attended three competitions in one season. The Netherlands were once again the first one, and FSN was as special as in 2018, with ARUS Nisi getting back-to-back victories in Business, but also achieving 3rd place in the Autocross, the first podium in a dynamic event in the team's history. These results made ARUS finish just one place shy of the overall Top 5.
However, the other two competitions were not that great, with a transmission failure in Germany ending all chances the ART-19C had of getting good results there. It was solved in time for Formula Student Spain, but its performance was nowhere near the one from The Netherlands. The bright side of these two competitions were ARToons winning (amongst 80 teams) in the Business event in Spain, and the highest scores ever in the Cost event, finishing 10th in Germany and 4th in Spain.
The ART-19E was able to go further than its predecessor, getting the accumulator inspection approval this time, but being unable to go through the remaining scrutineering processes. A bit more was expected for this season, but having the low voltage systems fully functional and plenty of information gathered were things to be hopeful for the future.
